Contents insurance

I have contents insurance via the post office in the UK.
I rent a house and there has been mould growing under the bath due to an issue with the tiles / sealant that has caused damp under there.
The damp has spread from the bathroom to the main bedroom (I presume) where it has then got on to my bed that was up against the same wall where the bath is located.
When I pulled the bed off the wall loads of mould has got in and ruined the duvan, got on the mattress and in the shelves under the bed.
I rang the post office, they sent a guy out who confirmed the mould was on everything and all seemed fine.
Then when I contacted them back they said they would not pay out due to the seal being in disrepair.
Is there any way to fight this? I have asked for the T/C's to see that it was 100% in the writing.
If it is, is there a way for them to prove the mould came from the bathroom? Or would they not pay out if they couldn't prove where the mould came from.
A lot of my content was damaged totalling around £4700 and i'm kind of miffed that despite it not being my property and having contents insurance I seem to be the person that is losing out.
Any advice is appreciated.

You are insured for specific perils (fire, flood, theft etc).
Mould is not an insured peril and more often than not specifically excluded.0 -
The above is correct. All policies exclude gradual operating causes such as mould.0
