OK, I accept that.....my point is....I dispute the damage was caused by me....they tell me their technical expert assessment says it is. We are in dispute. That's why I asked for help on here. Where can I go next ?? I have asked to speak to a senior manager at their repair centre and been told someone will contact me within 48hrs. If I want the laptop back to take back to Tesco (and use my...consumer rights) they want a fee of £37 handling charge. But I know we did not break that pin on that hinge by misuse and this should be a warranty repair. It seems like extortion to me. Surely, in law if they are demanding a fee they should provide proof that the laptop was broken by misuse. They say their proof is the technical assessment and that will not change.

Your beef is with Tesco. I would be going back to them saying you followed their incorrect instructions and getting them to sort it out.

Yes, In this case I have nothing to lose, so it is worth a try. I'm not entirely sure what they could do though as I have no laptop to offer them.....it certainly won't be sorted at the local(ish) store. I have no doubt I'll have to email their head office complaints team.
