Panel fencing help

Morning.

Well this storm has bettered my garden and has taken 6 panel fences down with it in my garden.

They were screwed to wooden battens which look rotted by looking at them. Gong to screw then directly into the wall and can anyone recommend the best way to do this please? With the fencing thickness, I was looking at 120mm screws with plugs into the wall. I was looking to see if I could get little plates to put on each piece of wood so it's not just a screw head going directly into the wood which I a hoping will help? Appreciate any advice on this please or maybe this will be fine what I am going to do?

Thanks

What do you mean by screwing to a wall? Is it a wall running paralel or are you planning on screwing end to end? Or doe sthe all run underneath?

A washer would offer some protection for the wood instead of just a screw.

As above I don't understand what you want to do but if your put "fence brackets" into Ebay you will find all kinds of fence brackets. I have used Ebay for fencing screws in the past, a lot cheaper than the local sheds.
  • We have a 3ft wall on one side of garden. So I put batten up and screwed fencing to this, but it's all down now. Need to go directly into the wall I think

So you have six fencing panels, attached at one end to a wall? What about the rest? You must have had posts between each - have these rotted and snapped under the wind? A fence installed with concrete posts and lintels won't go anywhere.
  • Just gut them side by side and have been ok for a few years until last night. Wood had rotted on battens by looks which eventually gave in.

You could attached some fence post to the top of the wall using "Fixman 995311 Bolt-Down Clamping Fence Post Shoe". You will find them on Amazon and Ebay for less than £5 each.
From your photo just renew battens with something a bit thicker.
  • Brilliant thanks

But there wasn't a photo; we all had to guess!
