Abuse, I would be grateful if you could merge this post with the 'Housing Benefits' thread. I feel that my comments have been unfairly twisted on this thread, and would appreciate the opportunity to comment on this.
It has been suggested by a BG that I told a new member that they should click the Thanks button. I did not say this. I actually said that it is polite that, when given information, a person simply says thanks.
I feel that there is a big difference between the two things. The Thanks button is, to me, just a stats thing, and it is of course optional. However, a person saying thank you to another, however they choose to do so, I think is just common courtesy?
I was not asking for a personal thank you on the thread. Many people had given accurate and relevant information, and what I was actually doing was suggesting a way for the poster to get better responses by being polite to those who took the time to respond.
The thread where the above comments were originally posted has been locked by the BG, hence my reason for having to post as a new thread.

Although I agree with your point of view dmg, I feel that it can be off-putting to a newbie to be told to 'remember their manners' when they are posting asking for advice.
Yes, ideally everyone should be thanked for their contribution, but not everyone thinks like that I'm afraid.
But you and I can continue to be polite, so, thanks for clarifying your point!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Why are you thanking your own posts with a different ID? That really is very sad, but if you have to boost your swing factor I think you should try using a different name to one you have used in another forum that we know about!0 -

To be honest I dont really care what you and your cronies think anymore, how refreshing it is to go on the other forum and not be name called, verbally abused and them actually care for the people who post.
Not that all posters on here dont actually care , because they do, its just the minority that spoil the boards reputation.Have you got a job yet?
NO? Then :shhh:0 -

You have caused most of the trouble on this forum with your rudeness, lies and pointless arguments and if you have any sense you will know that. You really are the most ungrateful person that I have ever come accross considering all the help and advice that myself and others have given you despite your abuse and call for people to be banned when YOU cause the trouble again and again. So we all know who has done their best to spoil this boards reputation and that is YOU.Why are you posting and thanking yourself ? It is very sad that you have to do that. Maybe that tells you something.0 -

Where to start with this post?
the help and advice that you and the "others" have given has always been thanked. Its just that for the one piece of help or advice given, there are 6 or 7 name calling or abusive posts to go with it.Have you got a job yet?
NO? Then :shhh:0
