Living Wage

I have some questions about National Living Wage, but can't find an appropriate forum - any advice? :)

I would have thought this one would be as appropriate as any. What's the question?

I'm on Living wage - over 25 (well over!)

I work 40 hours a week at £7.50 but have to arrive in work 10 minutes early - a monthly chart is published to show how late (ie not a full 10 mins early) all staff are.

So, as I work 40 hours and 50 mins for £300 (£40 x 7.50) its about £7.30 odd - so I assume not living wage?

    =========================

I have multiple places of work and I am not clear on whether I am entitled to be paid whilst I am travelling as I know people who visit multiple locations in one day are, like district nurses or care workers, but I can find nothing about my situation.
Place A is in the same town as I live and where the original job was advertised for. I currently work there on average 2 days a week.

Place B is about 14 miles away. My contract states I work in places A and B. I work in place B about once a week.

Place C is 60 miles away. I work there approx 2 times a week and get paid a mileage allowance which just about covers diesel, increased insurance and additional mileage/maintenance on my car.

£7.50 is NMW, not living wage

Afaik your contracted to work at A&B so can't claim travel expenses for those places. C you get compensated for the extra mileage and wear and tear on the car. You won't get travel time for it

If you are expected to be in 10 mins early and clock in/sign in 10 mins early you have to be paid for it. It's against the law to be paid less then NMW

I’m being petty but it is the National living wage like the OP has stated. NMW wage only applies to people aged under 25.

Lots of the info about NMW/NLW refers to a Fixed Place of Work. I don't have a fixed place of work - for 2 years now, I have worked at A & B. If it was simply a case of "if its on the contract, its your place of work", no matter how many places are on there, then surely, employers of peripatetic workers could get round having to pay them travel time by listing a large number of places of work.

I will admit that I have only been doing C for a couple of months and I accepted the company's request that I do this, in the hope it would ultimately benefit me. However, I'll present another angle for travel time to C . . .

I am doing the travelling at the company's request way outside my fixed place of work (whatever that is) and afaik the company can't direct my actions unless it is paying me, or I volunteer the time for free. The rate of pay is negotiable. BUT my overall pay for hours spent at the request of the company MUST comply with NMW/NLW. Working at C at the company's request adds around 6 hours a week to my time away from home.

I thought the living wage was £7.85 and £9 odd in London and that only some companies have adopted it but they have to pay the NMW which at the moment is £7.50 rising to £7.83 this April ?

Op, the travel time will not be paid You were contracted to site A and B, you then later agreed to Site C so you have a habitual place of work - site A and site B. If you had no habitual place of work then you have an arguement.

National Minimum Wage applies to all workers.
For adult workers (25+) is it known as the National Living Wage and is currently £7.50 / hour.
The Real Living Wage is voluntary and is currently £8.75 / hour (outside London).
