Thanks for your lovely reply @Sandyshores...getting paid to train is the dream and what I am ideally aiming for. Let's see what happens, I'll keep mulling it over.
You're right about the running, once a week is better than nothing and sometimes you just have to accept it's all you can do for a bit. It's too easy to start beating yourself up about it but it never helps...Mortgage overpayments 2018: £4602, 2019: £7870

I’ve managed to get a bit of running in over Christmas. @sofarbehind
It is more than I’ve managed in a while. I really enjoy it when I’m out there and I’m sure it helps my mental health but then some days I don’t fancy it. Then I beat myself up for not going out which I should stop doing as I then feel worse!0 -
Hello diary,
I have been AWOL for a long time and am long overdue an update. In May I finally managed to get the mortgage down to under six figures! I now owe just under 99k, I'm really pleased with this because I have managed to do it almost a year earlier than my original target date. I still have almost another year to go before I can remortgage and escape the ERC....I'm just going to wait because this charge is still 3k! Ouch.
I'm really not sure what on earth my next plan is. I didn't get the Big Career Change Job I have been dreaming of but was very close this year and made it to the final stage. It was a very long, draining process that I will put myself through one more time. The current job is still getting me down but I have an interview next month somewhere else - not a career change but would be a welcome change of environment in the short term. Fingers crossed. I still have vague medical school dreams but this would be financially so tough, I'm not sure if I dare to go for it or if I am just having a midlife crisis. For now I have reduced my mortgage overpayments drastically to £200/month to allow me to save up a big cash lump sum. I will either be moving or having a lot of work done on the house next year so it's time to shift my focus for a while until I decide what to do. I am missing that huge repayment already but I want to save 10k over the next 12 months and I can't afford to do both.
Running is ticking over but I have lacked enthusiasm in the heat..ha!Mortgage overpayments 2018: £4602, 2019: £7870

Hi @sofarbehind
I have just binge read your diary. I am a single lady too - 39 yrs and next week will own my first home with what will be a eye watering mortgage which I plan to start paying down asap.
You have done so well with the OPs - well done! I know you will do just as well with the savings for the home improvements! All the best2 -
Well done on getting below £100k - and a £200/month OP is still blimmin' good 😀! Sounds like a good compromise between OP'ing and saving to me.
Good luck with the interview 🍀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Thanks very much for the lovely supportive comments @HotDog2020 and @penny*pincher_2, I am going to miss those huge overpayments but I need to save as well for now.
@South_coast congratulations of being mortgage free and not just a wannabe! I need to catch up on your diary. You have done amazing, must be a great feeling. Your focus and determination has been rewarded..
