Is there an easy way I could confirm slab or block and beam? You've made me question my own memory now....

Jump up and down. One will feel dead solid the other will have a very slight vibration.

Is the conservatory going to get a building cert at the end so there'll be a fee? During a project I called the building inspector several times on points like OPs. He was very cooperative and it justified the fee we paid for the final certification.

If there was going to be an inspector, they would never allow the builder to do as he is suggesting. Conservatories are cheaper than extensions because in the main they are exempt from Building Control as they are classed as outbuildings.

It means that the industry is evidently rife with people who have no real clue as to how what they do affects the long term integrity of the house, or even the conservatory itself. It’s pathetic.

    2. My house has a slab floor and foundations, why do I have airbricks?

My house also has a slab floor (1987) but there is 1 airbrick above the floor in the kitchen in the back of a cupboard for some reason. All the houses of the same design have it in the same place, same cupboard.
