Sad to hear that story. It also reinforces the notion that you shouldn't overdo it (pot/kettle and all that)

This week I repotted most of my tomatoes burying them deeper in the pot as advised earlier in the thread (thank you !). I've also just sowed some red celery and brussels. This week I should also be sowing beans in pots, but first I need to clean the greenhouses, and top dress the herbs that were overwintering (Bergamot, Lemon Verbena & French Tarragon). I'm also going to get all my out of date seeds, mix them up, and try planting them in trays as sort of microgreens. If it works it should be a very Ramen friendly way of using up old seeds

Oh that's awful, so sad and such a shock. The only comfort I could draw is that they were doing something they loved right to the end.

been to the lottie today to take up the summer sprouting broccoli and start to fill up the carrot beds with sandy soil. Politics are starting up again, I try so hard to keep out of it but some people insist on telling me the in and outs and I'm really not that interested.

Dug in some manure today - I'd forgotten how much hard work that is. Which reminds me, when are people planting their First Early potatoes ? Now or in a couple of weeks ?

Super, I can concentrate on other things for a week or so (potatoes are going to involve kneeling, which I'm not so good at - despite the excellent Burgon & Ball Kneelo kneepads and the free Screwfix kneeling mat)

Usually about 4 weeks before the last frost in your area, mid April for me. However I do start a couple of first earlies off really early by planting them in a small pot indoors, to give them a head start. Had my first spuds in May last year

Pricked out lots of seedlings yesterday, tomatoes and pansies mostly, I now have an ironing board full of seed trays in my spare bedroom!

In other news - raining here so I'm biding my time - plotting & scheming for the next few days. If it's nice weather and I'm too knackered, then I tend to get a bit stressed out (strange, I know...)
