Absolutely! Even with little buses between country towns, public transport is terrible here now - they may only run twice a day, if they're on a school route, or 3 times a week, and when they run, the routes are absolutely circuitous. Bus journeys that go 5 - 10 miles take 45 minutes at minimum, plus walking to the stop and waiting - and along with my lack of energy and my feeling of being clinically vulnerable, I'm just not going to do that.
Madvix, what a good idea about trying out any old Yaris! I walked to our local Ford dealership a few weeks ago, I'll check out any other local dealerships, for exactly what you're describing, thank you.
I've almost done the green bin work, cut back the raspberry stems at the bottom of the garden. If I'd kept things in reasonable order, I'd still be harvesting raspberries nowthere were half a dozen still on there that had kept their colour, though they'd been eaten or started to go bad. Even an hour a week would be good enough.
So, this afternoon, hmmm, I'm wondering about managing to do the quinces, after all the heavy green bin work. Maybe that will be left *again*Check on the existing Yaris, and any nearby that I can sit in etc. Paperwork shredding wouldn't be terrible, or even getting the second kitchen curtain up - autumn is a good way through now, I need things like that.

Local car dealer has a Yaris for sale right now, there's an offer of a video walk through, and my spaceflight U3A group leader has one too - we have a meeting next Tuesday, I'm going to ask if I can sit in the driver's seat
Did a cheapfood order last night - got a few treats, I confess, but stocked up on toilet roll and sanitiser, the latter was definitely getting low.
And this morning - wooden "jigsaws" from JL, to be delivered to my local Waitrose next week, nicely in time for the birthday party.
I thought my boiler had died yesterday (had it serviced earlier this year) but I left it on the timer to see what it would do, and this morning, its come on, hurray. Washing is drying, finally, and I've opened the bathroom window to let it all out.
Paper shredding is carrying on, but there's *such* a lot. Bit by bit.

I'm really not sure about shredding all this paper. I've been at it forever - well, enough to grow heartily sick of it already 🙄 and I've hardly made any impression at all. But it has to be disposed of anonymously and ethically. Part of me would just like to burn it, and throw the ashes away
but thats not exactly ethical either
as shredded paper can be recycled at the tip round here.

Can you order a bag or two from a secure shredding company? They’ll deliver empty bags (sacks) by post and then when you’ve filled them you ring to arrange for them to collect? It costs a bit but much less hassle!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I never even knew there *was* such a thing - and the minute I googled, there were loads popped up out of the woodwork! Thank you both2023: the year I get to buy a car3

I've used old paperwork as mulch in the garden before! 😂 Probably not an option for you, and in reality probably more effort than shredding 🙄😂 But I laid it out flat in piles of maybe 10-20 sheets, watered it copiously, then covered with a hefty layer of compost/chicken run droppings.
Sounds like you might need several acres to get rid of the amount you've got though - using a confidential waste service sounds far more sensible!3 -
Am I the only one that finds paperwork shredding to be mildly therapeutic? I stick on some nice music, or something very easy to watch on TV, and pretty much zone out for a couple of hours. If you have boxes upon boxes of stuff the deal with then maybe an outside contractor or a bonfire makes sense, but something manageable like a printer paper box full of a4 sheets sounds like a nice relaxing rainy afternoon activity to me 🤣 What kind of quantity are you faced with KC?4

I've done that once its been shredded - but I don't have anything else to lay over it. And to tell you the truth, though I've done it in the past with college notes, I don't want client records all over my garden, its a long time in the past now, and I want it to stay in the past.

Had my driving lesson this morning, went really well - properly got parking reversing under my belt, we'll do parallel parking next week. Popped in to Waitrose to recycle freezer bag plastic, and pick up dishwasher tabs, which are half price right now (5.6p per tab, something like that). Tired now, but it all went well.2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -
For that much, definitely order some sacks! Waving goodbye to it at the door will be much more therapeutic!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
