I think it is unlikely he could force you to sell unless he has sole custody of your son. Are you in a position to give him his deposit back £6k now and balance when it is sold?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. That's a good idea, yes I could give him £6,000
I would want something drawn up by a solicitor that its £6,000 now and the rest will come when the house is sold.0 -

Then at least we'd no longer be financially linked
Our son starts school in September so would ask him if I can at least stay in the house this year and put it on the market in Spring 2019
Where I live (Trafford), you have to be living in the catchment area before the application deadline (January). When we were offered a place, conditional on proof of residency, the proof required had to be "current", but dated before January the 15th of that year. There does not seem to be any requirement to stay within the catchment area before September.0
