RBS PPI on Mortgage - How long does it take

We have had 2 claims for PPI ongoing with RBS via Gladstone Brookes since May 2017. 1 is for a loan (2k) that was used to clear an overdraft and the other was for PPI which was put on our £35k mortgage that ran from 1999 to 2005 (paid off in full when we sold the house). RBS have agreed that PPI exists, and we've provided proof of the mortgage (which they "couldn't find" even though we still bank with them) and also proof that we had alternative broker sourced cover which demonstrated that we had no need for the cover they charged us for. Anyway, long story short they are still dragging their feet. We have signed multiple forms of authority (because we were in temporary accommodation when the claim started due to building work) and it feels like RBS are basically taking the mick now. Gladstone Brookes are also not exactly proactive either. Is there anything we can do to give RBS a kick in the pants to sort this out? They've took the mick in charging us this (we didn't notice at the time as first time buyers) and it feels like they are just dragging their feet? Does anyone else have any experience with RBS dragging things out?

That is not really how it works. There isnt someone at RBS intentionally sticking their fingers up at you.Gladstone Brookes are also not exactly proactive either.
They have done their job. They put the complaint form in the envelope and posted it.They've took the mick in charging us this (we didn't notice at the time as first time buyers) and it feels like they are just dragging their feet?
Out of interest, why did you not raise it when you started seeing an unexpected direct debit for the MPPI? (RBS only retailed monthly premium MPPI and it was paid using a standalone direct debit from the mortgage).Does anyone else have any experience with RBS dragging things out?
Because of the plevin issue, complaints have slowed down with some providers. Also, if they are having issues locating information, then that will slow things down too. Have you contacted RBS for a status update?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. If the Bank have failed to respond to your complaint after eight weeks have elapsed you have the right to refer to the Ombudsman.
Of course, such action may not hurry the process and neither is it a guarantee that you will be successful.
As Dunston says above, contact the Bank for an update of your complaint's status.0 -
Thanks for the response. Nice to know its nothing personal
We didn't notice at the time as it was nearly 20 years ago, and being young and daft at the time we never really checked bank statements tbh. Its been frustrating because the amount of time and the amount of repeat paperwork that has been generated is ridiculous and it seems never ending. The Truth is out there....:D:wave::j0 -
That's only because you have employed a third party Claim Company to represent you.the amount of repeat paperwork that has been generated is ridiculous and it seems never ending.
If you had complained alone you would not be required to sign repeated letters of authority.
It's also likely that the CMC will end up with around a third (plus VAT) of any redress you may win, all for just putting the stamp on the letter containing your complaint.0 -
quick q
