Nest cams

Was wondering if anyone could help with the legality of using internal Nest cams in a domestic property? I am considering renting out a spare room on a night by night basis (AirBnB etc) and want to install a couple of Nest cams in the living room and kitchen for security purposes.

Are there any legal issues with doing this? Would be grateful for any advice.

Dont know about the legal side of it, however if I was looking to book a holiday / break and discovered that the living room / kitchen areas had CCTV I'd look / book elsewhere.

The only main legal issues I can think of invasion of privacy and consent to record somebody's image. That and probably having to put some signs up stating it, though this may be more for commercial properties than domestic.

Likewise. If they were there when I arrived, I would insist that they were disconnected or do it myself.

Agree with the points made above. Don't expect to get much custom when you tell them you have CCTV/wireless cameras installed and in use in the house, after all would you want that in somewhere you stay?

And if you decide to use them in a clandestine way then you will be opening yourself up to all sorts of legal issues.
