Disney world trip summer 2018

Hey guys

I’m super keen to take the rug rats away to Disney this year and I’d be delighted to learn the BEST deals and how to go about squeezing the most out of a two week trip.

As a newbie, the basic posting info, incl Stickies, location of and how/why to use them should be rather fresh in their mind.

To be fair it hasn't been updated in a bit. The Dibb is also good for Disney info, as is the behemoth that is the disboards.

You are going at a busy, hot time of year. That's not to say you won't have fun, but rather than wringing every last drop out of your trip, it's a good idea to build some R&R in to your trip.

I'm not a good person to ask about getting value as my circumstances aren't the same, but hopefully someone will be along who can help. Staying at Disney enables you to avoid Disney parking charges, which I think are about $20 per day, however it is more expensive. It has different grades of resorts, economy being the cheapest, then moderate and so on.

Another option is to stay off site, there are some lovely ones, there the trick is to watch out for resort fees and parking charges. The three main areas to consider are Lake Buena Vista, my personal favourite due to its proximity to Disney, Kissimmee and International Drive. International Drive (shortened to I Drive) is closer to Universal if you are planning to go to both parks. All three areas have a good variety of restaurants, but for non park things to do, I'd say I Drive edges it.

You could also rent a villa or condo. If you go that route, make sure that they are as close as you think they are before renting.

Generally, the more days your pass ticket has, the better value for money it is, though obviously you need to balance that out with how much time you will spend there.

How old are the kids and how far along with the planning are you?
