Cheap but nice holiday in Malta?

We would like to go on holiday to Malta anytime from end of November to Jan / Feb time.

Last time I went I booked with Bargain Malta Holidays. It was fine for us as a couple but we now have a 2 year old to take with us and I want a slightly nicer swimming pool and cleaner rooms!

Can anyone recommend a hotel or company to book through? We dont really want to spend over £800. Closer to £500 would be great

  • Hi,

The Maritim Antonin in Mellieha Bay is a very good 4 Star B&B and the resort is great for families. It has an indoor pool and childrens section of the main pool as well as a lot of on site facilities. It is coming up under £800 when I have checked.

The San Pawls is also a good 3 star Half Board and is under £800.

Temps can be very mixed. We have had years where it was warm and we wore t-shirts and shorts and other times it can be cooler and wet.Theres no saying what the weather could be like from one year to the next.

You can check here for previous years weather.

The problem about the Golden Sands Hotel is its in the middle of nowhere with nothing around it at all(so to get about you will need to hire a car or use public transport).Lovely beach but no good as you aint going to sunbathe in the winter months.
We went there on a timeshare visit just as it was beginning to open(just for a nosey around really) and yes its lovely but IMHO it had no atmosphere at all and is way over priced for meals and drinks etc.
The presentation/timeshare speel is supposed to last an hour or so but for some guests it went on for 3/4 and can be very hard sell.
Mind you each to their own but its definetly not my idea of a fun couple of hours but if you dont mind sitting through this for a few hours the price above is good.
