Book 18:

9/10. Very well researched and compulsive, although at the same time difficult to read (I could only manage a few pages a day in between lighter reads, such was the nature of the content). It seems that world corruption is unescapable. I love authors like this, the book is designed to upset the powers-that-be with some hard truths.
Hopefully you'll be able to avoid the stupidly placed diversion signs at Gallows Corner in the process! Use common sense and local knowledge to re-route rather than following the "helpful" yellow signs as I did yesterday.peachyprice wrote: »I've just ordered all three from the library, I've a couple of long business trips coming up, hopefully they'll be here in time.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Read Nevil Shute - A Town Like Alice. My goodness, why didn't I read this book sooner.
Delightful!Everything will be alright in the end - and if it's not alright, it's not the end ........0 -

I like Lisa Jewell too, great for easy reading.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Started reading last night 'This is going to hurt' by Adam Kay detailing his years as a junior doctor. I was only going to read for a short while but the easy reading of the diary format meant I read for a lot longer than I meant to - so am tired today!
The little I have read makes you wonder why anyone would want to become a doctor and how unrealistic dramas such as Holby City are with junior doctors bright eyed and busy tailed all the time
I've heard a lot of good things about that book and it's definitely on my to-read list, will be interesting to hear another opinion once you've finished.
Just finished "When Breath Becomes Air", another doctor story - this time, a neurosurgeon who is diagnosed with incurable cancer. Very moving and difficult to put down.Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

Well, I finished "Perfect Prey"; I just could not put it down. The murders are extremely brutal. Relationships are interesting. I have to read the other "perfect" books by Helen Fields!
My daughter has a "Q" book for me. I can't remember its title! In the meantime I may have to move on to 'R' of which I have several on the shelf!Sewing 88/COLOR]Woollies 19Card s 91Reading 37/400 -

I liked the Kalinathi book, but I did find his decision to continue working whilst he was clearly so unwell difficult to understand. At that point most people would have drawn a line and put themselves and their families first.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I have just finished reading Miss Carter's War by Shelia Hancock (Yes, the actress)
I found this a very easy read with totally believable characters who I really wanted to find out what happened to them all. The book is very well researched and sounds very realistic in it's depiction of World War 2 and the political landscape after the war and for the next 4 decades. It also delves into how homosexuality was perceived before and after it was made legal and the early years of being HIV Positive and AIDS.
I would give this book 9/10

Book 19:

6.5/10. Well-observed and witty in places....yet it just wasn't as entertaining as it might have been. The humour was a bit on the gentle side for me, but most importantly, I learnt absolutely NOTHING from it. Nil, zilch, nada, not one tiny nugget of new factual information - which made it a waste of time!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hi all. I'd like to join you if I may! Am an avid reader and working in a library means my 'to be read' pile and wishlists are huge as I'm a sucker for a recommendation!
Currently reading Let it lie by clare mackintosh. I've read her previous two books and enjoyed them. Halfway through this one and although not as gripping as the first book I like the story.
