Im after a soundbar for our 55" Samsung TV that is wall mounted, we want to spend up to £250 on one.
We're unsure of mounting it under the TV, or on the unit below that houses the sky box etc, and unsure about one with a seperate subwoofer or not?
Mrsbritishboy (complete technophobe) is all about the output, while I keep trying to convince her a better sounding one will be better
We looked at the Q Acoustics M4 online as it had grear reviews, but is quite deep so would protrude a fair bit from the wall
Any recommendations please?

Seems best-buy soundbars have separate subwoofers - the M4 is an exception.
Didn't want a bulky subwoofer so bought a low cost (£80) Samsung soundbar to be compatible with Samsung TV and connected using digital optical cable as soundbar didn't have the HDMI port of more expensive models. Had fittings for wall mounting but didn't use as TV on table. Sound quality appreciably better than TV speakers and adequate for our needs.
However the Sky remote could control the TV but not the soundbar so needed 2 remotes which may be 1 too many for a technophobe.
Subsequently upgraded to Sky Q and found the new remote can control both TV and soundbar.0 -
Consider a mini hifi system, listen before buying.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

If you don't like the idea of having a seperate subwoofer, I know yamaha offers soundbars with built-in sub.0

As Essex exile said , it’s not a bad idea considering a mini hi fi .
Apparently , the sound is not quite there with sound bars unless you go towards more expensive brands like naim or Dali .
I can see the other side of things though where convenience and simplicity is ekverything , which is where soundbars come into their own .
I have my tv connected to my stereo system . Sounds great .
I have a Cambridge audio soundstage ( the ones where you put your tv onto it ).
I used this in my last flat as a stop gap and it was fine .
I even used it in my new flatvfor a couple of weeks while I was unsure of whether to keep everything more compact.
In the end , I bought a new cabinet and my Cambridge audio soundbar is in the bedroom .
Richer sounds website is where I’d suggest you look with the budget you have .0
