Scottish Power: can someone help me with meter readings?

I'm trying to understand my meter readings with Scottish Power. It's an economy 7 tariff. There are several numbers in kwh under the headers G and H

if I compare the numbers there with the current one I get the following kwh numbers in the table below. It seems like the first two are what SP uses for a usage estimate they sent me (note: they sent me an estimate with completely different numbers!)

The strange thing is though: it seems like the highest usage 1312kwh seem to belong to the night tariff. Strange because I never had my heating on at night (yes, I should have switched tariffs. I know!) and only electricity used at night is from my fridge/freezer, phone charger and wifi modem. The lower number, 558kwh seems to belong to the day rate, which is where I cooked, showered and ran the heating when it was too cold. The money I put on my meter does correspond to these numbers though. Can anyone help me shed some light into this? I'm trying to understand these numbers myself.

edit: ok, I can't copy the table
G6 1312
GA 558
H6 753
G 558

G 6 1312.06 G A 558.14 H 6 753.92 G .
558.13

You have an economy 7 prepay meter."G "is the the total kwh s since the meter was was installed. This reading is not needed for Eco 7.
Day reading is on "H ",with the pence per kwh on the next push of the blue button on "I"
The night rate should be on "J" with the pence per kwh on " K "
You may not need to be on an Eco 7 tariff if you have gas central heating. The day rate for eco 7 is very high

I suggest you contact your supplier and ask which registers are for day and night.

    Thanks a lot!
This helps. Kind of. I think I need to look through my spreadsheet again and try to make sense of it.
Day reading is on H, ok. That's nearly the same as GA. Total is G6 then I guess? So how does the meter measure how much electricity I use at night? The difference between the two from the move in date I'd guess? That's.. odd. Then I used not 1312kw at night, but roughly 750kw.

With that in mind, the money I put into the meter suddenly doesn't add up anymore with the kwh used, and it would still be more at night than during daytime.

(Note, I don't have gas central heating. I have a storage heater. But I found that my flat is not cozy when I come home from work when using it. Plus my flat is well insulated, thus I only use the booster for half an hour in the evening and then turn it off or to lowest setting. So much cheaper)

Edit: Just looked. Night seems to be on L. Ok, I guess I'll write down all the numbers now, and again tomorrow to see what happens. Reason for asking of course is because Scottish Power is asking money from me. My meter never was in debt btw (if that's possible) but they claim I used more energy than my day-to-day cash readings show and that I used more than 4000kw at night in the past year, and only 150kw at day (I did pay £270, go figure)

Yep, probably good if I can't find it out.

Since GA and H6 add up to G6 it would suggest GA/H6 are the day/night or night/day readings and G6 is the total.

You are right. Note to self: Don't try to make sense of electricity readings at night.

Then I need to look at whether SP is taking money off my meter, maybe to pay for the debt of the previous tenant (yes, he was in debt) as the money I put into the meter now is more than the kw plus standing charges I actually used (unless I was sleeping again).

Though honestly, I don't think SP is taking money off my meter to pay for a debt. When I come back from travels I find that I consistently pay 41p per day (standing charge, fridge/freezer, electronics I always forget to switch off).

Have you checked what time the meter changes from day to night & back. Some older meters seem to be less than accurate.

You do need to make sense of the night reading. The more you use the cheap rate the lower the overall costs will be.use it as much as possible especially for night storage heating, showers, ironing, tumble dryer. Maybe your meter is not set up properly
if you cannot see the night reading on the meter it may not be correctly set up and may be only recording the day rate .This would be shown on screen G or screen H which could be the same reading.
It the prepay meter is set up for day/night the screens H, I, J. K are all used as well as "G " which shows the total used since meter installed
. for Eco 7 night storage users the night reading will be higher than the day reading..
If your electric key meter is like this one, then what I have said is correct. The night reading is on "J" with the pence per kwh on the next screen "K "
Day read is on H with the pence per kwh on the next screen " I "
Your meter could also be a Landis and Gyr or Actaris meter or an Itron, but they all use the same system
. G is the total since the meter was installed , and H is the total kwh s used by the latest occupier. They could be the same reading if it was installed new with the present occupier
You can see the debt on these meters on screen "S " with the repayment price per week on "T " but you have to have the key inserted to see these screens. Screen "A " can also show debt but this relates only to standing charges which may be owed.
Screen A will normally show the total credit on the meter but will revert to showing when its in debt when it will show a minus sign or the word "debt "
