Shearings own UK hotels - any good?

Shearings holidays to their own UK hotels look reasonably priced but I have heard complaints that they are sometimes dirty and/or understaffed. And some friends have just came back from a coach tour to Shearing's Pitlochry hotel telling of people catching the novo virus whilst there.
Has anyone found any good Shearings hotels they can recommend?

We stayed at the Pitlochry Hydro Hotel for a weekend in July and it was fine.
The room was pretty standard, clean and comfortable, but nothing fancy. The food was quite good, but not outstanding.
Be aware that all Shearings hotels are totally non-smoking if that's an issue.0 -
I read in a newspaper that Shearings are the UK's 9th largest hotel group so it's a lot bigger than I realised. I know several people who holiday with them quite regularly and have always found that wherever they go, the service is one of the best things about their breaks.0

Shearings have some really cheap deals going at the moment, I have just booked a 5 day all inclusive holiday to Sandown on the Isle of Wight from the West Midlands for £129, and that includes 3 excursions too. You can even choose your seats on the coach.

Got back last Friday from a 5day/4night All-Inclusive stay at the Highland Hotel in Strathpeffer (Scottish Highlands). Had a great time at a great price £139per person. Bar open from 5pm till midnight, AI from 6pm-11pm.
Three trips out included in the price.
Hotel was pleasant. We had room with en-suite shower/WC. Some people said they had bath/wc (some in Avocado green). Maybe some rooms have been refurbished. Staff very friendly and efficient.
Would use them again.0
