Excel Parking Fine - Incorrect Reg entered

Hi there,

Over 12 months ago I used my wife's car to visit the Peel Centre in Stockport and mistakenly entered my own registration into the ticket machine. My wife then received a Notice to Keeper from Excel with a charge of £60.00.

My wife sent the following email correspondence to cpo@excelparking.co.uk
in response to letters send from Excel (ordered chronologically)

"I have received a parking fine for the peel centre in Stockport today, which I am contesting.
I frequently visit the peel centre, and always pay for parking, even if I am in the centre for 15 minutes. There must be an error in the system , or I must have mistyped my registration.
I do not keep my parking tickets. Can you please let me know what my options are here, as I know I definitely paid for my parking. I am happy to come into the office, and review CCTV footage to prove I went to the ticket machine and paid for the ticket."

"I have received a final reminder notice, but I am not happy with paying the fine given I did pay for a ticket that day.
My husband now thinks he may have inputted in his registration number when paying for the parking – Can you please check whether this registration number was entered? : Xxxxx
Please give me a call on xxx if you would like to discuss it further?"

"I have not had feedback regarding the email below.
Please confirm whether you have checked if the registration number of MF56YPD was entered into the system.
I am keen to resolve this issue, but please note , I will not be paying the parking fine until all checks have been completed.
As stated before, I am confident I purchased a ticket, but it may be the case we entered in the registration number of our other car by accident."

Excel have not responded to any emails (Maybe they state that they don't) and we have now received a 'Letter of claim' through BWLegal stating that we now owe £160.00. I understand that the above response weren't as advised on this site and I'm now wondering if we still have a defence or if we should just pay up?

Any help much appreciated.

Chris

Why would anyone pay £160 when that's the same as would be in play at court, and we win 99% of the time? What's the point of paying? Don't.
