It is unlikely you can return gifts without a receipt

Took a book back to Waterstones yesterday and exchanged it for another without any receipt or proof of purchase.

Am intrigued....were any of the gifts Bayliss & Harding sets?

I'm lucky in that we don't do a lot of present exchanging in our family. Agreed long ago when we were struggling to provide for our young families. I do pass gifts on that I can't use to a favourite charity who use them as raffle prizes, so usually get more than they are worth for their funds. Being MSE, if you hang on to them until you are asked to donate one you will actually be saving money too.;)

Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Not for me, but I have two friends and my sister in law who always get Bayliss and Harding gift sets, charity shops must be full of them :)

    I confess I had to G00gle Bayliss & Harding, I've never heard of it!:D
We don't do gifts at all, but back when we did, I never had a second thought about passing anything unsuitable for me along to the chazzer.

  • I have a 'gifting' box under my bed that includes unwanted gifts that haven't been opened and I use these for either birthday presents, secret santa or raffle gifts for upcoming years. All are non perishable items and can even be used to add to a gift I think I need to add a little something else. Most things are bath/body sets, candles etc.
