Will and living in dads house

It was me that said he couldn't force a sale if you were offering him a fair buyout amount.
I'm in a kind of similar situation (recently passed father, me + sister co-execs, one house, she wants to move out and needs funds to do so, but I reallly want to stay). My solic told me that she couldn't force a sale if i didnt agree to it as long as I bought her out for half the value of the house. Mind you he also told me I could do probate on my own if Becky didn't agree to it, so it seems I have a kooky solicitor
Thanks and sorry to hear you have a similar situation. It's really hard. Legal advice is obviously a must but can be confusing and questionable if there is something which strays from a straight forward probate.
Even when looking for a Solicitor I googled contentious probate Solicitor and the results come back with many no win no fee results. It would easy to go down the wrong road.
When I get further details on a forced sale I will let you know.0 -
I refer you to my post #72. You continue to go round in circles and are achieving nothing.Thank you. Ironically I found out today a house close buy up values at 2 million (wow) is in a similar situation. Sister has the money to buy out brother but brother refusing due to jealousy that the sister has the funds to do that.
So obviously sibling issues run deep.
But thank you for the advice, it is appreciated during what is a difficult time. Loosing both my parents are been hard and sadly loosing my brother as well but for different reasons. But sentiment aside I just need to plough on with it.0 -
Jeanie could you find someone through a personal recommendation? I found my contentious wills guy like this - I text my friends saying who is your solicitor, I may need one that does court work. That gave me a small list, one of the recommendations was a large local firm who have a specialist for contentious wills and fighting off greedy grasping relatives. I asked our family solic about him - he said he's a proper rottweiler, just what I may need, and he's happy I found him

Could you perhaps do something similar? Or depending where you live I can give you the details of my guy? (I don't know if these things are geographically restrictive, would it just be a case of I'll work for you if you pay my bill?)Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.0 -

Thanks. I contacted several and there was one who was stand out for me and left me feeling quite reassured based on several simaiar cases he cited. So fingers crossed it's in good hands.0
