My lease is from the local authority; it needs me to insure the home in joint names of both me and the lessor-council. I can't find any firms which will cover the council; they only offer joint-names insurance for another individual. Has anyone solved this?

Assuming the councils see the policies, I suppose you could ask them which insurers seem to offer it.0

I assume this is a leasehold house bought (RTB?) from the council who retain the frehold?
Please quote the relevant clause in your lease.
And what did your freeholder say when you asked them?0
