Britannia Parking

Hi,
I would appreciate as much help as possible.
On 19th December my car was parked in the Southampton retail car park in Southampton, the driver ran into Curry's to pick up an item which was ordered online.
The car was left for approximately 20 minutes before the driver returned to the car.
It was assumed that a ticket does not need to be purchased if parking for less than 30 minutes and the person was also unaware that a 'free' 30 minute ticket needed to be shown..
Unfortunately a PCN stuck to the car windscreen (£85) & the ticket indicated that the attendant was watching my car from 12:06 - 12:18 (total of 12 minutes) .
How is the appeal process started? There are so many posts, it would be great if someone made a bullet pointed note of the procedure :-)
> Does an appeal need to be made first? (Must this be done on the Britannia website ?
> Is there a set time to make the appeal?
> Once the appeal has been made, will the KEEPER then receive correspondence from Britannia? This will
have a POPLA code?
> What must be done once the POPLA code has been received?
Please excuse my ignorance as I feel this fine was given unfairly.
Thanks very much

its not a "fine", its an invoice and it was not given "unfairly" , it was given because the driver failed to comply with the onsite contract for parking
the fact is that the driver failed to comply with the signage including waiting times, which are rarely greater than 10 minutes and almost all "free" waiting times greater than 10 minutes usually require obtaining a ticket from a machine or similar
the BPA CoP defined waiting times, which BRIT have signed up to
edit your last post and remove any hint of who was driving
THE DRIVER was the person driving
THE KEEPER is the person receiving any postal charges like a postal invoice
so only those 2 terms whould be used
THE KEEPER appeals the windscreen invoice around day 26 , as keeper, preferably on the BRIT website , using the blue text appeal in the NEWBIES sticky thread , post #1
when the KEEPER receives a popla code from BRIT, they use post #3 of that NEWBIES sticky thread to appeal it to popla, by constructing an appeal based on legal arguments, not what the driver "thought or assumed" on the day it happened
this will be uploaded as a pdf choosing OTHER on the popla awebsite within 30 days of it being issued by BRIT , preferably less , so within 4 weeks anyway
the driver fell into their trap and now has to do plenty of research to extricate himself/herself , albeit from this point onwatds it is the KEEPER that will be doing the donkey work, not the DRIVER
read that NEWBIES sticky thread carefully, whilst awaiting day 26 ( early next month)0 -
Never ever assume anything when parking anywhere, I just don't understand where the driver got the idea you can park for 30 mins free without checking the T&C's.
However presumably the car parks signage was so bad this was not apparent!
Start buy reading the newbies thread at the top of the forum, and it's an invoice not a fine.0 -
Thanks for the speedy reply . Where about is this "NEWBIE" link?0

Where can I find this "NEWBIE" link?0

top of this forum, usually the third thread down which is "stuck" to the top of this forum so it is easily found
its near where you hit the red NEW THREAD button
it is essential reading for all newbies and is the only thread you needed to have read
good luck0 -

Back where you hit 'new thread' instead of reading the info threads first.
If you are using a phone or tablet, STOP. Use a PC or laptop or this (any) forum will not work well for you.
My signature tells you where to click to get back where you should have been reading, not just starting a thread. Most newbies have no need at all to start any thread on this sub-forum because the NEWBIES thread tells you the words to use in appeal (yes the template appeal; no don't remove/change anything).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD0
