406-424:19 coathangers that I have been driving around in the boot of my car, waiting to find a supermarket that takes them for recycling-found a Sainsbury's that takes them.Which is good, because I had only been driving them around in the boot of my car for the last 6 weeks :rotfl:

Hi, just wondered if anyone knew what to do with the elastic bands that come wrapped round their post? Online searching has been mixed and its not the thin red plastic bands but thicker beige ones.
I'd really like to get rid of the hundreds I have accumulated already! I reuse what I can but there is way too many for that.
Thanks0 -

A friend's son made a bouncy ball out of them, but I don't know if it bounced or how many it took. It sits on their mantelpiece. Meanwhile.....
Sorting through my sock drawer, as one does,
122 empty manicure set
123 another old pair of socks
124load of bubblewrap. Not in sock drawer but as I needed some to wrap
125 small ugly dish to CS I found lots of it.

And thanks Edwink for the help with correcting my typos.

Rootle, could a school or farmers market use them? Our farmers market uses them to bunch veg and would be happy to take them, although I am in the US.0

Right so after starting a bit late this is my first progress post;
1-15 - Old university text books sold on WeBuyBooks (I graduated nearly 8 years ago so it's about time!)
16-91 - Clothes sent to the charity shop
92-96 - Clothes sold in eBay (all still had tags on them and never worn)
I am quite surpirsed i have managed to nearly get to 100 in just a couple of days. Got a few other bits on eBay so once they sell should tip me over my first 100 items,LBM (14th February 2018) - £38,281.81 / DFD: February 2023

Yes, regular hunting is the way to go!
Every morning I go round the house and try to tidy 5 things away, so now I just look out for the clutter. Not sure of the maths -will count up later.
Another pair of wornout socks to textile recycling.
Pile of paper to recycling
pile of low value stamps to a stamp tin to use up- probably doesnt count as decluttering but they were all mixed in with the paper mentioned above. I was clearing a small drawer in my desk.
fistful of supermarket receipts from handbag to compost bin.

Royal Mail suggested sending them back so they could recycle them but this link is from 2011 so not sure if they still require them back. Apparently they are biodegradable.
From the article
Use them to keep things together e.g. rolled up posters, documents, batteries.
• If you make jams, chutneys, etc at home why not use them over the lid to hold down the cloth.
• Use to open jars. Only one band is usually required for this but it is a way of making use out of them. When jars are difficult to open by hand place a rubber band around the lid and this should give you more grip and make it easier to open.
• Resealing food packets; crisps, rice, biscuits etc.
Anyway in the CS bag which will have to go out soon
