Flush rods stay pressed - continuous water flow

Options
Hi All, First-time poster. I have had a look around but haven't been able to find a solution to my specific problem.

I have recently had a toilet put in - Pura CC100 "super slim concealed cistern with chrome dual flush plate".

My problem is when I press the flush button water keeps coming through - the rod behind the button does not spring back into position. Initially the problem was with the half-flush button but now its both. Any ideas? I don't think it is due to the length of the rods I suspect it has something to do with the mechanism the rods connect to but have no way of validating this.

FYI I have had a plumber look at it and he hasn't been able to figure it out - some silica glue was put on the chrome plate buttons perhaps to help rods connect with the buttons but I personally think that will just keep the rods depressed.

I would really appreciate any help. The only way I can use the flush at the moment is to have the front plate off so I press the rod directly and after each flush pull on the rod slightly which stops the water flowing and allows the tank to fill up

Thank you and happy new year!

Take the lid off and the rods out the way, then use a pencil (or your finger) to push down the buttons on the syphon, if it fails to spring back then the problem is the syphon. If it works ok then something is jamming the rods and stopping it springing back.

It could be snagging against the cistern, with the lid off push the buttons on the lid, do the rods spring back ok?

Thank you bris. Unfortunately I am not allowed to paste links/images here as I am new so will try explain my observation

The mechanism is such that the rod presses on a lever which pulls the flush open [as such the rod cannot be removed ...easily]. As the water drains out the lever should sit back down and shut it close to allow the tank to fill up but it does not. I have to press down on the lever (or pull the rod towards me)

So as far as I can see the issue is not the button but as you suggest the syphon unless I am still missing something.

If you think it is indeed the syphon my next question could I replace it myself ? The whole unit stands within a concealed/tiled enclosure having to take it all out would be very expensive.

    Thank you again
  • If you've only recently had it installed, get the installers back.

If you look through the installation manual on the web I think you'll see this is a far eastern import as the instructions are almost unintelligible. The only thing which may be of interest appears to say that the flush valve will not close if the operating rod is too short. There is a section on maintenance which suggest all parts can be replaced via the space behind the flush button panel.
