Hi
Can anyone shed light on this problem we moved house on the 7th December our new home is not ready until 15th January. I phoned our insurance broker to cancel our insurance let them know our circumstances and I gave them a holding address and they said when we are ready to move into our new property Give them a call. These brokers do all our insurances.
We are on holiday in Hampshire for Christmas and my husbands car got pranged we phoned our broker and they said go straight to the insurance company for a claim which we did they had our old address but took all the information. My husband and I are now wondering if the brokers passed on our information automatically We have to travel back to Wales and panicking what if they did not change our details and are we actually insured to travel as they do not have the holding address p. Everywhere closed today so can not phone to ask : do you think this would have been sorted by our brokers and are we insured to drive 🤔

sorry should have been clearer I phoned the broker to cancel the home insurance and update our detail. We have all our car and home insurances with them I explained just what we intended to do whilst waiting for our move to take place. I gave my brothers home address as a holding address as we stayed with them for the first week we went on holiday to Spain came back to a rented holiday cottage for a week then came to Hampshire to stay with my son over Christmas. My worry is would my broker update all our details she did not mention calling the car insurance company to let them know she just said get in touch just before you move back in. Sorry this is long winded0

Assuming your instructions to your broker were clear then there is no reason why your car insurance will be affected - especially as your claim incident happened on holiday!
(If liability for the prang is clear cut and rests with a third party then consider cancelling your claim and claiming direct from the third party insurer, thereby not having to pay any excess/no temporary loss of NCD/easier to insist on your choice of repairer etc)
Obviously if you now have left your old address then ensure your broker has changed your details as mentioned in your OP0 -
Thanks Quentin
This what I'm hoping they did, I did not specifically ask about car insurance I just assumed they would change all the details on all my policy's for me as they are the broker. When we move to our new home I would assume the car insurance may alter due to new post code so I am expecting this. However when my husband phoned the claim line they still had us under the old address. ☹️ We are afraid to use the car at the moment in case we are not insured typical over the holiday period no where is open to ask.0
