"Anonymous" donations.

Can anyone advise on how to give a one-off donation to a charity where they can receive the Gift Aid tax relief but I don't have to give too many personal details?
I have made on-line donations before but, despite being told that charities do not share details, I have always been inundated afterwards with requests for support from similar organisations.

HMRC rules are very strict for obvious reasons about having a trail between donor and charity so, no, you cannot gift aid a donation without naming the taxpayer whose tax the charity will recover... my bolding:
"Gift Aid declaration forms
The declaration must include a description of the gift and the:
name of your charity or community amateur sports club (CASC)
donor’s name (at least their initial and last name)
donor’s home address (at least their house number or name and postcode)"

The Charities Aid Foundation has an account that allows you to pay money in, and they claim the Gift Aid for you and pay it into the same account. You can then use your CAF account to make donations to charity with the gift aid already included, so the charities don't need your details to make their own gift aid claim. I don't have an account, but the website claims that you can donate to charities anonymously.

Thank You. I will look into this.0 -
I am not sure what % CAF charges for their services (if any), but we recently discussed how reliable the online sites are for not passing on details to the charities you want to support here. Summary: my details have not been passed on to the individual charities when I have donated via eg JustGiving and said I want to be an anonymous donor.
And before anyone expresses irritation at the charges made by these intermediaries (CAF, Virgin, JustGiving), collecting Gift Aid on behalf of a charity is a service which costs money, and many charities are more than happy to have someone else providing that service on their behalf, even if they have to pay for it too!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I think you'll find that your gift thru JustGiving is "anonymous" in the sense that others can't see you name but the recipient can.0
