You can request bank statements as far back as the Bank have records for.
However, this is a chargeable service and would prove very expensive if you want numerous years to be provided.
Why do you actually need these statements?0 -
So 10 years might be unrealistic, I left them 6 years ago0

I was going to look in to bank charges, I was charged a lot and put into financial hard ship, signed off when I had a breakdown, I was looking if I could claim anything back0

I use to be able to view ten years worth of HSBC statements online up until about six months ago. Now I can only see six. Why don't you call them and ask for statements for the last ten years? You don't have to give a reason for the request - they may be obliging.0

Historical bank charges have not been refunded since the Banks won their court case in 2009. Only customers in CURRENT financial hardship may be refunded some charges, the fact that you may have been in financial hardship in the past is irrelevant now.I was going to look in to bank charges,
You left HSBC six years ago and no longer have an account, so you are wasting your time with this.
Regardless, it's unlikely the Bank will still have any records of 16 years ago.
They won't be "obliging" I'm afraid. Statements are only provided on payment of a fee for each individual. Why don't you call them and ask for statements for the last ten years? You don't have to give a reason for the request - they may be obliging.

As per post#2, the bank will supply you, on request, with copies of any statements they have.
The cost is £1 per sheet (up to a maximum of £10)
However, note that even the most basic of statements (1 transaction) appears to cover 3 sheets
If you were registered to recive only electronic statements, then you can request a paper version free of charge from HSBC (providing a paper version has not previously been provided)0 -

In which case, spend the festive season reading this informative MSE article that explains all about reclaiming bank cahrges, and how to get all the details the bank hold about any costs you incurred for a maximumn charge of just £10 :money:

As I already explained above, that link explains only how those in CURRENT financial hardship may be able to obtain a refund of (some) charges.FestiveJoy wrote: »In which case, spend the festive season reading this informative MSE article that explains all about reclaiming bank cahrges, and how to get all the details the bank hold about any costs you incurred for a maximumn charge of just £10
The OP of this thread is no longer a HSBC customer and cannot request a refund of bank charges from 16 years ago.
I do agree a Subject Access Request (SAR) only costs £10, but that will not provide individual statements of course.
Regardless, it's unlikely the Bank will still have any records at all of 16 years ago, especially for a customer who left them six years ago.0 -

Moneyineptude is correct.
You are no longer a customer with them. They do not have to consider a current financial hardship case. Hardship applies to your current bankers and your current position.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
