Hi all. Don't know if this is the correct place to post this, but I wrote to Mesh complaining about the keyboard we received with the computer, (it was 18 months ago). The letters are wearing off a few of the keys, so I thought they would be able to advise me what to do.
This is the reply I got
A keyboard can last 1 month to 5 years depending on how much it is used. As the keyboard is no longer under warranty you will need to replace it yourself.
I most certainly wont be buying their products again!
Ant suggestions on how to get letters back on my keys would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

This is a sign of the times - I have found that many keyboards have this problem (should see my keyboard (Dell) ... only about 2 years old .. and several keys are unreadable). I think this is caused by the consumer pushing prices lower and lower therefore a certain amount of quality has to be sacrificed.
You could spend ages arguing with them and then paying to return the goods - but you have to balance that against the inconvenience of not having a keyboard and/or the cost of a new keyboard (which start at about £5) - you can even pick a wireless item up now for £15-20.
I did try Tippex/Snowpake but the letters only lasted for about a week - I have been pondering on buying enamel paint (like those used in model making) - but then I think for a couple of quid more I can have a brand new keyboard ... just ain't wirth the hassle.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
I have to say that when I bought a Mesh PC they exchanged the keyboard with no problem at all. The fault was down to 'sticking' keys ... I phoned-up one morning and I had a new keyboard in the post the following day. You have to admit that if the guarantee states 1 year (which was my guarntee period), then 1 year it is.
As 'IvanOpinion' says, keyboards are quiet cheap and it'll probably cost you more in arguing about with Mesh.
Time to put your 'Bean Counter' skills into operation!!It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!0 -
How long it takes for the letters to wear off is due to a combination of how intensively you use it and the quality of the keyboard in the first place.
Mesh are correct in telling you that the letters may wear off in time and how quickly is dependant on useage and if it's out of warranty you will have to buy a new one.
Lettering wearing out is very common, especially on laptop keyboards.
I have to say though, as an IT engineer myself, it would have to be a pretty dire and cheapo keyboard to start wearing off within a year. My Microsoft keyboard still looks brand new 3 years down the line...but then it aint a cheapo.0 -
I have found it best to get a decent priced keyboard in the first place, rather than getting a cheap one.
Haha but u should see the state of my keyboard at work! Can see hardly any of the keys! Lucky i dont need to look when i type or i would be screwed :starmod: :staradmin :starmod:I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:0
