Much the same reason people use decorators, gardeners, accountants, solicitors, plumbers etc etc.

Either because they know they cant do it themselves or dont want to do it themselves.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

....and are therefore at higher risk of making poor investing decisions without professional assistance! Do you feel you have the self-awareness that OP demonstrates with regard to your ability (or lack thereof?) to understand the principles of investing and the basis on which to decide whether DIY or advised would be more appropriate?

Managing 100k in investments is a piece of cake compared with managing three kids under five.

Not sure how seriously that's meant, so take your pick from responses such as:

    Ha ha, yes, very witty

    or

Eh? Why would anyone try to compare two entirely unrelated processes entailing completely different objectives, skills, aptitudes and knowledge....
