Housing Benefit - Extended Payments

I don't quite understand what it is. The description given is:
"4 weeks extra Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support at the same rates you were getting when you were receiving Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance"
I thought that people are always entitled to housing benefit if the meet the criteria, and starting work only means that it will be reduced. So does this "extended payment" deal mean that you will get housing benefit for just 4 more weeks and then it will be stopped? Or does it mean that after those 4 weeks it will be reduced?
Please help clarify! Thanks.

No it doesn't, that's why I made the topic.0 -
I think it means that you will carry on getting the same rate as before for four weeks, then it will be reviewed in light of your new circumstances and reduced/stopped depending on eligibility once your new wage is taken into account. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
They used to call it "a run on" i.e. your HB would be paid for 4 more weeks after your change of circumstance
Have you recently started work or something?0 -
If you have been receiving a qualifying benefit for 26 weeks or more and claiming HB without a break and start work, and if that work is expected to last 5 weeks or more, you will get 4 more weeks HB at the same rate you were receiving before they take any wages into account as income.I enjoy flower arranging, kittens, devil worship, the study of serial killers and their methods and road kill jigsaws.0
