Windscreens - save ££

OK I have a Daewoo Nexia and a new windscreen costs £200 (as quoted by Autoglass) fitted. As my insurance is third party fire and theft its not covered by insurance.

The reason for the quote was a stone chip in front of the driver.

Stone chips will get worse trust me! as the car moves around they will crack and if water gets in and it freezes in winter again it will crack.

Here is the tip, if you can cover the chip with a 5p coin it can be repaired at low cost, do it quickly before it gets worse or dirty.

If you have fully comp insurance its normally free and wont affect your premiums (where new windscreen often will)

Remember it will fail an MOT if its directly in front of the driver and larger than a 5p coin or larger then 30mm anyware else. if its less than a 5p coin get it fixed now before it gets bigger.

OK so prices, as I'm on TPFT I need to pay, called Autoglass last night who said its £65 and they will call today to let me know when they will visit, they just did and its Saturday!!!!!!

Gave me time to call around

National mobile windows £40 +VAT
Autowindshields £35+ VAT
However the above are both mobile if you call into National Mobile Windows they will do it for just £25 +VAT

Hope this helps someone
