Any Bruges tips please? Nice hotels? Is it child-friendly?

I am planning to go to Bruges in April with my OH and 2 year old son.

Somebody told me it is not very child friendly. Is this true?

Does anyone have any good hotel recommendations - preferably child friendly as he's sure to have hit the terrible 2's by then! :eek:

Bruges is beautiful but I have to admit it is not somewhere for very small children. I think they would get bored very quicky, there is a 30 minute boat trip which might be fun but many of the streets are cobbled which won't be easy if you are using a stroller. Bruges is really somewhere to admire the architecture, the finest preserved medieval town in Europe they claim, but I doubt 2 year olds would think the same. If you can leave your son at home you will really enjoy it, last time we stayed at the Flanders Hotel which we loved and is close to all the sights

I agree with Alan, not a place children enjoy. Took my then 10yr old daughter last year and apart from a brief visit to the chocolate musuem ( which I thought was poor anyway ) she didn't enjoy walking round looking at the buildings.
