Hi Guys,
As you can probably tell by my username, it is not my first time here! I was a regular poster around 10 - 12 years ago and I was pretty much debt free, organised and everything was good. Unfortunately, life doesn't stay like that,a whole host of bad things happened in my life and tbh, it is a bit of a miracle I am still here. I still have some debt from those dark years and it is time I annihilated it for good.
I don't really want to talk about the past and what happened, even financially, the point it to realise where I am today and to move on.
I have realised that everything I have ever wanted in life I have achieved through sheer hard work and determination. If I apply this determination to debt elimination, I can be debt free the earlier part of 2018.
I am aware now that I need to work out my SOA and make a list of my debts, I will post them below in the next comment. My debt used to be around £30,000, I am now expecting it to be in the region of £8,000. I am also aware most of it has gone to debt collection and I have a few defaults/CCJ's. Sometimes you have to reach the very bottom before you can start the rise back up.

Bumping my post after drifting back into a state of ignoring everything.
I have a few days to do my tax return and as I have to go through all my statements for that, I guess it is a good time to count up the outstanding debt.0 -
As scary as it is, once you know where you stand you'll be in a better position to know what to do

Thanks Lilith, I am having a soak in the bath first to freshen up. A friend will be round soon to collect his son who I have being looking after along with my own DS. Then I will have a few hours to look into everything and my OH should be home by then too.0

Oh just typed out a long detailed post and lost it!
I guess I don't need to bore you all here with the details as this will be a condensed version!
On Tuesday I finally took my head out of the sand and looked at my debts. I even paid some of the smaller ones off!
I paid:
- £74 Lloyds overdraft
- £53.56 - owed to an old insurance company
- £70.76 - also owed to an old insurance company
- 99.44 business debt
- £33.44 current car insurance policy
- £120 utility bill outstanding
- £25 fee I was been chased for
Spoke to student loans, I have the old style loans and never sent off deferment 12 months ago and therefore I owe some money even though I shouldn't have to pay any. I need to send them the info requested this week.
Spoke to another company regarding a business utility bill from last year, owe £102 and they will accept £80 but they couldn't talk to me because I gave them incorrect DOB, I have emailed them my photo ID so lets see what happens next.
Still owe:
£600 business debt
£1100 legal for CCJ I have
£500 business bill unpaid and chasing me for it
£5,534 Barclaycard - defaulted ages ago and in debt collection agency
£979 - Halifax overdraft, defaulted and debt collection agency involved
£1366 - Loan that defaulted and is with debt collection
OK, post again tomorrow, just wanted to record my progress.0 -
I have filled in and printed off the form for tax credits overpayments.0
