ParkingEye parking charge notice, Aldi/Cheshire

My vehicle received a parking charge notice today for £70 from ParkingEye, for overstaying in an Aldi car park. I've skimmed the threads and know there are various template letters but am struggling to take it all in right now.

I have a few questions:
- if someone wished to send such a template letter contesting the charge, which is most appropriate, and when should they do it?
- what is the statistical likelihood of such a letter being successful?
- would detailing someone's disability (but not Blue-Badge-holder) or financial circumstances get anywhere with PE?
- should someone just ignore said notice?

    Post one

Don’t skim it. READ it. If you can’t be bothered to properly read it, why should anyone else bother helping you?

    1) newbies thread
    2) derive that yourself
    3) protected characteristics can give rise to the requirement for reasonable adjustments. Would depend on overstay
    4) ignore hasn’t Ben the advice for 5 years.
  • I read it to the best of my ability at the moment given I have ADHD and am rather stressed.

    1) OK, I will
    2) if I could do that then I wouldn't be asking
    3) it was quite a long overstay so probably not
    4) OK- not everybody automatically knows that, though

    Possibly 79.8375%

    Does that help?

Then don’t try to do it now, if you’re stressed. You have to manage yourself. We also can’t mind read.

If you have specific details we could maybe help

But if you had searched for ALDI you would have, from memory, seen to email head office. Have a look when you’re feeling up to it.

We are always 'successful' in appeals/complaints to Aldi, because PE don't sue over Aldi sites, so whatever you do succeeds.

I would not recommend ignoring it though as you never know if one day Aldi might kick PE out and PE might start revenge court claims after all.

  • I'm glad I won't get sued, at any rate. I've contacted Aldi, who asked me to email their head office, which I have done. Waiting for a reply- I assume it'll take a few days given the time of year. Is it best to wait for their response before preparing a template letter to PE?

Whatever the result of your complaint to Aldi you must continue with the appeal process set out in the Newbies FAQ thread until you get written confirmation from pe that they have cancelled!!

Don’t wait so long as to miss the PE 28-day deadline. If it’s getting close, send in the blue text template from the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #1. Attach a copy of any receipt or bank/cc statement proving patronage on the day.

  • Thanks- I've submitted that template online to PE under the 'Other' reason for appealing.
