Holiday entitlement confusion
[Deleted User]
I work at a bar, with my mum as the stewardess, I'm currently working two roles, one as the cleaner, and as bar staff too. Theirs a huge difference between my holiday entitlement and my mums.
Sure, she's doing more hours but I'm not sure its right.
The establishment is run by a committee, and I don't know if what I've been told is correct.
Role 1 = 6 days a week as a Cleaner
Role 2 = 3 days a week bar staff
Total hours 24
The ways its spread out, im their 7 days a week
I'm being told, that I'm entitled to 21 days a year off, however, as its 2 roles... if I wanted the whole day off (theirs is where im not sure..)
As the cleaning role is in the AM, and bar work is the PM , I need to use two holidays for one day off, my mum on the other hand, who works AM and PM most days of the week, only requires one holiday to do the same, and is offered almost 40 days a year off, with lots of other small perks two
Des me having two roles on a single payslip change anything? As in limit amount of time allowed etc? I have nothing but a verbal contract...
Thanks!

you have to ask them how they have done the calculations and what happens when you book holiday.
there are a lot of different ways to do the calculations and without knowing how they have done their calculations it will not be possible to tell if they are right or wrong*.
do they pay the same rate for both sub jobs?
are the hours for each job the same each day you do them or variable.
* using 2 days(whatever one of those is) for a day off will be wrong.
The basic statutory holiday is 5.6 weeks ask them how do you get that amount under their system of holidays
A common approach is to use hours and allocate them to the time off to get the pay.0 -
As long as you are receiving the legal min for the hours you work then your employer is not doing anything wrong if they are giving another employee more holiday.0

Why didn't you get it resolved 2 years ago?

And wasn't it your partner working at the bar?

Good finds, although it was 3 years ago. I suspect the whole thing may be a wind up.0
