Thankyou Esme, and welcome
This morning was a huge struggle, I did not want to get up and the dog, who always goes straight downstairs to go in the garden, jumped off my bed and straight under ds' duvet :rotfl: :rotfl:
Anyway, I've made it through the first day back, had my bath and am tucked up in bed alreadyEarly night for me tonight then hopefully tomorrow I will feel a bit more like normal

Glad your first day back was OK. It was a struggle here too. Nine year old autistic son really struggled, sobbing and grumping as he went in. Hopefully he will be OK now, sometimes the anticipation is worse than the event.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0

I was feeling lazy for dinner, so grabbed a pizza from Sainsburys. I also picked up a couple of bits to put in the foodbank box there - I watched I, Daniel Blake again last night, reminded me I need to do this more oftenMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

I think your dog had the right idea!
DD wanted to put together a shoebox at Christmas but we missed the deadline - she was upset so we decided that we would spend the money on food for the foodbank instead. She had a great time (doesn't usually enjoy food shopping) and chose loads of festive biscuits and sweets. Might do the same next year as I always wonder if the shoeboxes actually get to where there supposed to be.0 -
We do the shoebox appeal at school but I've stopped doing them now, in my role I see the reality of some of our kids home situations - we live in one of the wealthier parts of the country, a nice middle-class Tory area ... yet I have children in my year groups that don't have any birthday / Christmas presents, some who share a bedroom with 3 other siblings, some who I have had to go and buy shoes/socks/tights etc for ... it is all around usMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

It should be compulsory viewing in schools, I might suggest it tomorrow
Sometimes if there is a freebie on Shopmium that i know I won't eat / use I get it anyway and stick it in the box - sometimes they are odd items, but may be useful to someone, eg. recently there was some soya pieces - I wouldn't use them but a veggie might be grateful of them and it has cost me nothing.

Beanie what do you suggest as useful items - our local foodbank has the standard list on their site (beans, soup etc), but sometimes I think there must be other slightly more interesting things that could be donated? I don't mean that to sound rude, but if I was that down on my luck then a tin of value beans is quite depressing too. I know this may come across wrong, I don't mean it to, just sometimes I think there must be odd items that just make it a little more interesting for people?Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
