UK Mail

Options
My son has a girlfriend who lives in Norway. He bought her some Christmas presents and sent them by UK Mail courier to her. He followed the instructions and sellotaped an envelope with the customs documents on the top of the box with the address label. He booked a collection for Thursday 14th.

Nobody turned up, so they said they would collect on the Friday 15th. Nobody turned up again and they said as time was running out it was probably better to take it to the depot rather than try another collection. I dropped it off for him on the Friday night and they were confident it would get there by Friday 22nd.

On Wednesday 20th, he got an email saying the customs paperwork had been lost so they still had the parcel at the local depot. They said he could either fill in more paperwork and take it to the depot but it wouldn't get there before Christmas or they would send the parcel back here. He knew he was going over there after Christmas so he decided to get it back and take it with him.

The doorbell rang on Friday 22nd and it was the usual UK Mail courier with boxes for work I'm doing in January. He told me to sign his device and said he had another one on the van. He came back with large box containing a dining table. I said it wasn't ours but he pointed to the address label and said I'd signed for it so he had to leave it. I insisted it wasn't ours and asked him to take it away, but he dropped it on the doorstep and walked off. When I looked at the box, it has my son's details and consignment number on, the Norway address details, a domestic address in Slough that has no connection to us and a note saying no customs paperwork.

I rang them up and they said they had no idea what has gone on. They had no idea who the table belongs to or where the Christmas parcel was.

Later on the 22nd, the Norway girl got in touch to say thank you for the parcel which had arrived safely at her house.

I still have the dining table. It looks like a customer return as the box is damaged and I can see it's broken inside. I have messaged UK Mail several times who keep telling me it's mine and they have my signature for it, or they send me the Norway signature to prove that parcel has been delivered. They are refusing to collect the broken dining table from me as according to them, the transaction has been completed and it's mine.

It's too big and heavy for me to take to the tip and I don't see why I should pay for the council or a rubbish removal firm to get rid of it when it's their mistake.

How can I get them to collect it?
Here I go again on my own....

Send a note to the Slough address saying you have their table and could they ask their seller to arrange collection
