    Hi,

What you have to understand is that defaulting on a credit account, and a default on your credit file, are two entirely separate things.

They can call in there account at any time.

If you have complied with the default notice, and paid what you owe, within the timescale quoted, then a default will not be registered on your credit file.

One is completely seoerate from the other.

That is my confusion, this notice of default served under section 87(1) of CCA implies that my account is in default stage and will be recorded on my file...regardless if I pay or not, if I pay it will simply be a paid in full/ 'satisfied' default.. that is my worry

Also worth mentioning the account is over a year old with no late payments whatsoever...

I know someone who got caught out with the council tax two late payments triggers them demanding it all up front, because he waited until the day the payment was due to pay. Which meant that he was late, because of the time it takes to reach his account. If you pay by direct debit then it removes that problem.

You need to ask them what is going on.

Normally if you satisfy the breach in the given timeframe, no further action is taken.

Although you should refer to the letter they have sent you.
