Change of address and DLA claim reassed?

Options
Hi there

We are moving home next month and will obviously need to let people know. I thought I read somewhere that if you moved address your child's DLA claim would be reassessed all over again?!?! Is this true? As it's only a change of address... anyone know??

No, change of address for DLA is not a change of circumstances. However, if you claim other benefits then change of address could trigger a claim for Universal Credit. What other benefits if any do you claim?
  • Thank you

I only claim tax credits and dla and carers allowance.. thanks

Do you not claim JSA/ Income Support or housing benefit?
  • I did a while ago...not anymore.
Just dla for my children, carers allowance and tax credits
  • I moved a few months ago, DLA claims just had to have the date amended, it wasn't reassessed. Think someone has been telling you panic stories lol. With carers allowance you can amend the address online.

There is a 'rule' that if you 'hang low' and are an adult on DLA (i.e. make a change etc) you could be 'found' and told to apply for PIP instead of DLA. But this doesn't apply to children.

No such rule exists. A reported change in condition will prompt an invitation to apply for PIP, as should your claim being up for renewal. A change in address will not.

The notion of hanging low and then being found is nonsense.
  • Thanks all! Yes few panic stories about. It's for a child.
