    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a bright and sunny morning here and I slept like a log last night so I feel a lot better. Boxing Day was horrendous for Becky and we ended up taking her to A and E in the middle of the night as she had taken an overdose and cut her face and throat. After a night on the childrens ward she is now back at her psychiatric unit where at least she will be safe for a while. I need to have some very hard conversations with the staff about her next leave and discharge as there is no way she is ready to come home permanently. It's been very upsetting for all of us but at least we have a bit of breathing space for now.

Steve and the other girls were fantastic while I was at the hospital. He took all the Christmas decs down and cleaned and tidied through. He also did a couple of loads of washing and put away all the shopping. I love him so much. He feels pretty helpless when it comes to dealing with Becky so he looks after me so I can look after Becky. It works well for us as a family.

My lovely cmht lady is coming to see me specially today just so I can talk things through with her. I am looking forward to going out for a drive to the seaside and watching the waves as it is very healing. I am looking forward to hearing about her Christmas too.

Turkey curry for tea tonight. I have eaten my weight in junk food so I have ordered loads of fruit and veg to be eaten over the next week. I think we will have enough for a turkey and leek pie tomorrow and that will be the end of the Christmas meat. I have ordered a couple more cookery books to have a look through. I buy them second hand and they cost pennies. This time I have ordered three Jamie Oliver books as I like him as he is so positive and enthusiastic about cooking.

Holly, I really hope you are feeling better today. I am sorry you were so poorly over Christmas xx
JackieO, I hope you enjoy your peaceful day at home xx
Cranky, I hope the HT recovers soon, what a horrible virus to catch xx
Everyone else, I am sending you all warm hugs as well. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Good morning everyone.

What a shock for you HollyHarvey, glad you’re on the mend now.

Dumpling - such a shame for Becky, she’s back in a safe place again. You sound so ‘sorted’ about it and what a fab OH you have there.

Nelski - I’m the opposite to you, can do without Christmas easily but do enjoy Hogmanay. It’s the Scots in me! As a nation we’re not welded to Christmas. Until the early to mid ‘60s Christmas Day was a normal working day in Scotland.

I watched the Christmas QI the other day. Fascinating as usual. I was interested to learn that baubles represent apples (garden of Eden style) and that snakes and fruit used to feature before Victorian times.

Last night my tentative plan was to go into town this morning. Now I’m not so sure. :rotfl: There’s nothing I need and I’m bound to be seduced by ‘bargains’ which are unnecessary. I must avoid temptation. And it’s very frosty outside.

My youngest nephew’s girlfriend gave birth to their third child, probably yesterday. (They live on the Sunshine Coast so I cant work out the time backwards!). A second daughter. :j Now I hope he saves up for a wee op! :rotfl::rotfl:

Right, I may have to venture further than the kitchen.

    Happy Thursday to all.

Morning (((((((((( hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Thank you for all the good wishes, I am feeling better, but DD2 has insisted OH gets the Dr, so an after surgery visit. I manage a shower which has exhausted me, so back in bed.

It's a very cold but sunny morning, heavy frost last night, it looked like it has snowed this morning.

OH is coping, just, thankfully what ever it is he has not got it, fingers crossed it does not develop. I could not cope if it does.

Dumpling, so sorry to hear about Becky, I do hope that the unit is able to help her.

Dr has just been, I have the flu!! Two weeks before I feel anything like and two months to recover!! I did manage chicken and rice for supper last night. I enjoyed it.

    Morning all

Very cold and frosty here I have stripped the beds and OH will hang it on the line in a while to give it a good blow :o as its quite windy out there.

DD is at work but I think her and her young man are coming for dinner tonight we are having a sausage plait which I taught OH to make with the spare saus meat, with mash and peas, we also still have puds left from xmas so a nice easy meal.

Im itching to take the decs down but will leave them up till the weekend as they did not go up till Xmas eve so will leave them up a bit longer.

My dd bought me an amazon fire stick for xmas its a voice controlled one so I can now just lay on the sofa and ask it to find a film for me :D its the height of laziness !! I started to watch Peaky Blinders which I love so maybe more of that later.

Good luck to the TA's today xx

Dumpling Oh my heart goes out to you all, I hope Becky is more settled now xx

    HH take it easy xx

Hugs to all the poorly people xx

    Have good days all xx

    Hello all
I went to bed at 8pm last night to fight off whatever it is, but I still feel pretty rough again today. I feel like my joints have seized up and my lungs need a decoke :(.
Anyway with the help of Mr Fix It, I have managed to put my dining room in some order and put a load in the WM. We spent 20mins discussing which refuse bins to put out as our council website is unclear. No one in our road knows either as everyone seems to have a variety of different combinations of bins and boxes. I asked SiL and I'm going to go with what he says, as he is on the same round as us.
Just having another coffee and then will tackle the fridge of doom :rotfl:. We didn't buy so much food this year but we still have a lot left for freezing. I fancy a jacket potato for tea, probably with some gammon and followed by the last of the Xmas pudding.
Dumpling I'm thinking of you and your family. Love and positive vibes heading your way. Your Steve needs a gold star for holding down the fort :staradmin Many gentle hugs to you all.
HollyH. Hope you are on the mend.
Gers a little girl :T. Congrats.
Sorry if I have missed anyone but hugs to all those struggling with health issues or just life at the moment.

    Afternoon everybody,

Pretty nippy out and we've just had a hailstorm so the glass roof over part of the kitchen is covered and I've had to put the lights on.Ly1a had great fun walking across the frozen puddles in the park and eating the bits she broke off :rotfl:

Still sounds like there are plenty of poorlies out there so lots of get well vibes to you all especially Holly and Becky.
We called up to see our friends yesterday and had a nice chilled time. They were bracing themselves for a visit from her nephew, wife and 2 children staying with them for 5 nights-they are back up North for a wedding. Our friends don't have GC so 2 under 5s might be a bit of a challenge for them- they live tucked under the moors and lead a pretty quiet life normally.
Last night was a GC free one but DGD ha s just rung to ask to come & stay tonight (think she wants to play with her new science set :rotfl:) & they are staying Fri & Sat too.
Our friends who moved to Spain are back to see family and are coming here New Years Eve,so a repeat of last NYE really..I shall probably do pie and peas.
I've just frozen the last of the turkey, which should do us 3 more meals ( not yet though :D) We need to nip out for more milk and bread shortly so I shall now love you and leave you xx

  • Afternoon all

Back to normal today. It was my birthday yesterday so it makes Christmas into a three day event! We had the family round Christmas Day and yesterday. Dh did a brilliant Christmas lunch. Dgs (3) was so excited by the crackers that he had to hep everyone pull theirs lol.

there was a bit of snow in the garden yesterday so DD, DGS and DS were out playing snowballs, but not for long brr.

Today it's just me and DH. we have done a little shopping and I am cooking Pad Thai tonight but without the prawns for me. Dh is going to amuse himself this afternoon by sorting out and defrosting the freezer as there is not a lot in there at the moment. We ate all the turkey and gammon but there is sweet stuff left- mince pies, chocolates, biscuits and Christmas cake left.

Hugs to all poorlies and worrieds. Feel better soon Holly H and Csarina. Big hugs Dumpling.

Well keep warm and well folks, Enjoy your Thursday.

    Afternoon all

Back to normal today. It was my birthday yesterday

    Gintot

Belated birthday greetings to you. Gintot. Im glad you had such a wonderful day.

Talking about birthdays, its Youngests on the 7th Jan. I went shopping this morning to get him a bath robe....Lots of those fleecy things everywhere but I wanted to get him 100% cotton to dry him after his shower but I only saw one in Debenhams and I wasnt prepared to pay £55! I went with a set budget which wasnt a lot and couldnt stray from it. I came back with a few bits and peices but basically walked my legs off for nothing.

On the hunt for a pair of my pants this afternoon. Dont ask....no frivolity has been involved and the men were horrified when I asked if they were wearing them....No sense of humour some folks.

Dumpling So glad you have Steve your rock and Becky is now in the best place...time to concentrate on the rest of your family now.
