Old Alliance and Leicester bank statements

I need some help please. I need to get the bank statements from an old Alliance and Leicester account for the year 2011 for half the year.
I am going to call Santander tomorrow to see if they can help but is there anything else I can do.
I also have heard they only keep details for 6years so I just may have timed out.

You can try a Subject Access Request, which may cost up to £10, but if they don't have the data any more then you'll be out of luck.0
