DD flies the nest ..how to cover uni costs

2.5K Posts

Well restarting my diary ,I'm turning fifty this year happily married two kids still alive healthy and nice ,I've now got people around me who have lost their kids through illness and to be honest my only concern is how to help her pay for uni .We are in Scotland but she wants to live out and because of income she will get £4500 a year .She has some health issues but not life threatening and for that I am eternally grateful .So time to focus ,I love painting and my treat to myself is to visit 50 beaches in the year. Photograph then paint and maybe even sell on who knows. An A-Z 26 beaches might be more realistic but my dog is old and loves a beach so this will be days out for me ,with friends, with dd, with hubby and together as a family with the dog always there regardless of combination. There's the added benefit that picnics will be a must as the dog doesn't settle in cafes or pubs so cheap days out as well .I have lots of debt but good income as long as hubby and I don't get sick and pull the belts in i'm hoping to shore up DD nicely through uni with a monthly sum of £800 most of that is accomadation 2018- 2022 is going to be poor but fab .Good luck ev1 with you're up and coming challenges .
Will list debts later I've joined the challenges ,most wasteful area in our household is food and credit card payments I plan to be the balance transfer queen.

Just popping by to say hi and wish you all the best. I love the idea of painting the beaches. I lived in Scotland for 3 years on the fife coast and it still feels like it could be home again once we retire.
Sounds like a good plan and I’m sure your DD appreciates the support. It’s a worry how much debt they can acquire whilst studying. My god daughter is in her second year and doing well, but my best friend is keeping her afloat. I’ve got two children who both want to go and it’s a good reminder I need to clear the debt by the time eldest goes in 5 years. The youngest is a year below so hate to think how much it’ll cost having two away!
Living out builds good skills, dd could have stayed at home with a long commute but she's loved living in the city.
Love a good beach and have a senior and not so senior mutt in my life. I can't however paint or draw (well I can but badly)!
Happy New year and good luck with it all - I'll be cheering you on for sure.
