ZTE Blade A512 only plays sound for one second

I have a ZTE Blade A512 running Android 6.0 that plays sound only for a second when playing a YouTube video etc (or anything else) through the speaker, then it goes silent. The sound is fine through the earphones.
I tried using the SoundAbout app to tell the phone not to use the headphones but that hasn't fixed it. I can't see any dirt in the earphone socket.
Any ideas? I may try a factory reset later.

Can you get sound through the speakers during a phone call. If so it could point to something that the master reset could cure. If not then maybe its an actual speaker fault. If you do a bit of googling "ZTE wipe cache" you will see that before doing a master reset you could try doing a cache wipe and that way you will preserve personal data.
:
Turn off the device.
Press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons until the ZTE logo screen appears, then release.
Press the Volume down button to highlight wipe cache partition.
Press the Power button to select.
Wait until the device displays 'Cache wipe complete.'
Press the Power button to select reboot system now.0 -

Thanks, I will take a look when I get home. Unfortunately there is no sound either when people call, so perhaps it is a speaker fault. It's just that because the sound played for a second it seemed the speaker was capable of producing sound. I'll copy the data I need to a computer, try the resets, and if that doesn't work take it back to the shop I bought it from.0
