Vodafone..Spotify....

Hi
My wife has a sim only plan on Vodafone that comes with a 12 month premium spotify sub...all’s been well for the past year.

Her min contract was up at beginning of December and have had several emails saying spotify will now start charging 9.99 per month...this was as expected.

However we contacted Vodafone about a rententions deal for her and agreed the same deal as she already has...which again included a years spotify....
However getting this to work seems near impossible....have had account reset and retested by several people.

Some people at Vodafone are saying I neeed a new spotify account as the offer is for NEW spotify accounts only...

Can this be true.

If I set up a new spotify account then I’m gonna lose all m6 playlists etc..

Anyone been here before ?
Thank you

  • No it shouldn't be for new spotify accounts. My vodafone Red Entertainment contract was coming to an end but didn't get a good offer with retentions. Then I cancelled that contract which revert my spotify back to free version. Went to sign up a new vodafone red entertainment contract via third party. Did the transfer number to the new contract. Activated the spotify offer with the same spotify account I had.
  • I was in a similar position to your wife in november. I upgraded to a new sim only deal via the Vodafone retention department.

You should be able to transfer your wife's existing Spotify account with all her playlists etc. Just make sure when you are reconnecting to Spotify through the 4g network rather than WiFi when doing so as it won't pick up the new contract that you're on.

    Hope that helps.
  • Thanks for replies.

Haven’t had time to contact Vodafone today, but will try t9morrow.

Really struggling to get them to understand this issue
  • When her term ended the Spotify account should have reverted to a 'free' account. You should then have had another text offering you the choice of 'premium entertainment' option - e.g. Spotify. Which then should just be a matter of selecting Spotify and logging in again.

Did you get the selection text sent out again?

Have you tried doing it through the Vodafone website:

    vodafone.co.uk/explore/music-tv-and-sports/spotify/index.htm - selecting 'Activate Entertainment'?

Don't set up a new Spotify account - this is an issue on Vodafone's end. Def worth explaining your frustration to them that you're paying for a service (quantifiable at 9.99 per month) which you're not getting to use cause of a Vodafone issue hence want some credit back for.
  • Ok I think the spotify account has to revert to a free account before it can again be upgraded to the premium option.

Don’t think there is a option to simply bolt on another freebie year.

At least nobody at Vodafone knew that or had the option to explain it properly.

Anyways, up and running again with another year of Spotify.

    Same again next year
