Yes you can.
You can take it to a place of repair and then back back to the MOT centre (if different) for re-test.
If you are doing that best to book it.
I use my local independent garage and he takes it for MOT elsewhere because he's not an MOT centre.0 -

True, you would just need to lose a month or two and get it done much earlier. But, you do know you can take it in for a test up to a month prior to the expiry date and if it passes, your new expiry date runs from the old one, not the test date? Probably for the same reason you've just done exactly the same thing on your new-to-you car. Or maybe the car was first registered on the 1st January and they've just kept the renewal date the same.0
