Overspending over the Christmas holidays

I never spend a penny over the Christmas period. Once we have done our ‘big shop’ for groceries on the 22nd/23rd, the next time my hand goes into my pocket is around the 27th/28th. My wife, however, is prone to splurging on unnecessaries on Boxing Day, a cause of much grunting and face pulling by me every year. This morning she woke up with a sore throat and hacking cough. While I’m not pleased about this, you’ll understand, we will be a few hundred pounds better off in January
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

A sore throat and a hacking cough are no barrier to 'splurging on unnecessaries' on Boxing, or any other day:cool:.
Have you never heard of online shopping?:p

I couldn't sleep last night (probably too much sugar from all my xmas chocolates).
Anyway i'm not sure how but i ended up spending £63 on Ferrero Rocher online (i never shop online but i ended up on Ocardo website and bought what amounts to 420 Ferrero Rocher for £63 incl free delivery).
I thought i was on Waitrose website but somehow i set up an account with Ocardo and now I'm expecting a mountain of chocolate :laugh:I have a tendency to mute most posts so if your expecting me to respond you might be waiting along time!0 -
my mother spends big in the boxing day sales .....
...for presents for the next Xmas :rotfl:
Obviously not on things that wont keep but still.0 -
You are correct about online shopping, but she’s more of a ‘never mind the quality, feel the width’ kind of shopper. She likes the whole experience of going in and giving the goods a good ‘looking at’.A sore throat and a hacking cough are no barrier to 'splurging on unnecessaries' on Boxing, or any other day:cool:.

I have just made a complete liar of myself by spending £6.99 on a 3.5 metre extended washing machine hose from currys...pick it up later. Should I feel guilt?

I am truly appalled by your spendthrift ways. Shocking behaviour. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Not too sure how spending on 27th/28th is any different to spending on 26th?Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

Does exchanging a Christmas present and paying the difference count as overspending?
Planning on getting a few Christmas bits in the sale and spending a gift card, other than that, no more.0 -

Depends how much you had to spend, presumably to get something you will actually use/wear, rather than something someone else thought you would/should use/wear:cool:
Must admit, I'm tempted by some offers in the Molton Brown sale.
Actually below my 'this is the absolute max I will pay for something I don't need but really like' price:D. Resisting temptation though as I've already got enough to last at least 2 years:o0
