Thank you for the warm welcomes :j
Had a voucher for Tesc'o so got a couple of tins 2 for £7, some matchmakers £1, and some craft beers 4 for £6 so finally made a start on presents.
Decided I'm not going to let stuff spoil my favourite time of the year, so bring on the glitter, wrapping paper and Michael Buble! :rotfl:0 -
Hello everyone,
I was looking for some advice please as I am having a mind blank.
My younger sisters have boyfriends and I feel like I am expected to buy for them. My sisters like to remind me that they brought their brother-in-law a gift last year which is completely different but ok lol.
Me and my husband have decided we will get them a token gift but no idea what to get them! Looked at the boots 3 for 2 smelly sets but nothing there stands out.
I don't believe either of them drink. I haven't met one and the other I have met a handful of times but he is shy and he hasn't said hello to me more than twice... I literally have no idea what these people are like which makes it even harder.
Any other ideas please?0 -
Describes personally if the boyfriends aren't long term/not been introduced properly I wouldn't be forced into buying anything.. Are these boyfriends spending Christmas with your family?£2 Savers Club for 2022 #120

DESCRIBES can you ask your sisters for a bit of guidance here? It’s always more difficult when they don’t drink because it rules out all the great glass and bottle sets from places like Home Bargains and the supermarkets. A big bag of popcorn and one of the red and white striped popcorn tubs maybe or a Lynx set? I def think your sisters need to be more helpful in the suggestions department if they’re expecting you to buy. Generally I’m with STOKIE if they’re not long term but it’s not worth falling out over if your sisters are going to be offended. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0

That was going to be my alternative suggestion depending on budget
Had a rotten day at work yesterday. They are making me move departments (supposedly only until New Year) but the way they have gone about it has upset and annoyed me. Feel like I have no say in the matter and that people knew before the department manager had even talked to me. If I could guarantee a new job in the new year I would give my notice in now and pay myself for the next 8 weeks but sadly we all know life doesn't work like that - there are no guarantees on anything.£2 Savers Club for 2022 #120 -
mandco thanks for the info on the ASDA discount, I’m going there on Monday so hopefully it will still be on!
radioactivepig glad to see you’re not losing your Christmas resolve!
Describes I did a film hamper for my BiL’s and their girlfriends one year, so a cinema token for both of them and some sweets, popcorn and a drink.
Stokie oh that’s not good, it’s always difficult when people make changes and you have no control over it. I had many a moment where I wished I could have walked out of work! Perhaps in the new year you can see if there’s anything better for you?
On the Christmas front I’ve just booked a Waitrose delivery for the 23rd December for the turkey etc, my in laws are definitely coming to us Christmas day which will be nice so I’ll have to get planning all the food etc. I’m planning to make some potted stilton and chilli jam as gifts so I need to start planning in when I’m going to make them. I’ve joined the PTA which is good but I’ve suddenly got loads of stuff to prepare for the Christmas fayre which is going to slow down my Christmas prep somewhat! I'm off to find a few more hours in the day…:p0 -
StokieBecks - exactly what I thought! One lives with my sister at home with my mum so feel obligated for him but like I said, he never speaks to me! I believe he is meant to be coming to mine for Christmas dinner BUT I don’t hold my breathe for other reasons. My sister never likes travelling and is always conveniently ill when it comes to visit me. She hasn’t stepped foot in my house since my wedding and there have been plenty of opportunities. Sad I know but me and OH are really planning that they won’t arrive. The other BF is not coming to Christmas so still won’t meet him!
Also sorry to hear about work. I was made redundant in September and another team knew before us! But the reason why I share is because finding a new job took a couple of weeks but a lot of recruiters made it clear to make sure I have something before Christmas as people naturally wind down. Hope you can stick it out and hope things get better
Peppapig - I have asked and they have both helpfully replied with “I don’t know” It has been driving me insane! Sadly we don’t have the best relationships anyway so I’d rather just get something to stop a silly argument.
Getting there - that is a good idea! I will see what cinemas they have in the town centre as I honestly cannot remember! I have some Dove men care sets from last Christmas I didn’t gift so I might make use of them too.0 -
