Advise needed on account fee charge Lloyds

Hi everyone,

I need some advise on how to proceed as at the moment I am getting nowhere. I set up my Lloyds account at my local branch in Falmouth Cornwall in 2005 , when I set it up I was taken to a side room and this part sounds pretty unbelievable but the man from the bank said the only account open to me at this time was one with monthly charges as I'm not on the electoral roll however he said the account does come with breakdown cover and mobile cover.

Year later 2011 I was in my new local branch in London and asked about the monthly £7 charge and the lady said I didn't have to pay it if I didn't want the services so I cancelled them. About a year ago a friend said he had claimed these charges back as he was missold them so I decided to do this myself as I had claimed my PPI back myself before.

After speaking the worlds most obnoxious staff member I have ever dealt with and informing I had never wanted these services never needed them as I didn't own a car for the duration of the charges or a mobile phone for the first two years of them. I was told he would he investigate hours later he called back and informed me that my claim is being turned down as he had gone through my old statements and I had once bought petrol in 2006! I couldn't even remember that but its possible I was with my mum or brothers or friends and bought petrol god knows. He said I could complain to the ombudsman and he would send through a letter stating its been declined to take to them.

A year later and I'm still waiting for this letter I have rung monthly to be told its been sent to my address which of course it hasn't and at this state I'm pretty !!!!ed off! I feel they are taking me for a fool and fobbing me off but without this letter is there much that can be done?

You could have gone somewhere else?
After speaking (edit:"to") the worlds most obnoxious staff member I have ever dealt with
    Maybe they felt the same?

2005? 2011? why has it taken so long to complain?

firstly why would you assume I was being obnoxious ( a bit like correcting my post.... pretty obnoxious) I wasn't unpleasant in anyway the guy whom I spoke to was a jumped up little turd right from the off. After speaking to a friend who had a similar issue I then realised I could complain.

I assumed if I had an issue opening an account with Lloyds I would have one else where and I was also lazy I had just left the army and wanted to change from an account I had in Northern Ireland for convenience.

Aren't I within my rights to complain for something that wasn't even sold to me I was told it was part of the account , they haven't sent a letter despite ringing waiting on hold normally 5 - 10 mins once a month for a year and cant do that. And I feel the reason for turning down my complaint is absurd does buying petrol once in a 6 year time frame prove I needed break down cover?
  • I think you may have a claim based on the info you have supplied.

I suggest you read the below guide and follow the advice
