Are they entitled to pension credit

Her pension is so small because following a divorce in the early 1980s, and marrying her current husband she didnt work again, she is now 68.

I didnt think she could claim off her husbands pension?

I will mention this option to her, but I know she wouldnt go for this if it effectively reduced her husbands pension. I do not understand the principal myself,so I dont feel knowledgeable enough to advise her.

It will not effect what is paid to her husband’s pension, it will be based on her husband’s basic element of his state pension, but his payment will not change. I am assuming she was over state pension age when she married the him?

It will be worth her while to check whether she qualifies for cat B pension.
